Many of us might be aware that red meat (lamb,beef and pork) has much cholesterol and saturated bad fat than chicken but still consume high amount of it.Now I will be glad to tell you the effects of this:Cholesterol and saturated fat can raise your blood cholesterol and make heart disease worst.Chicken has less cholesterol than most red meat.
I’m not saying abstain totally from red meat but have a limit to them.For example if you want to eat meat here are some tips to use
1. One portion of meat which is about the size of a deck card or 3 ounces.
2. Choose lean cuts of meat.Lean cuts usually contain the words “round”,Loin”or “sirloin”on the package.
3. Trim off as much fat as you can before cooking and pouring off the melted fat after cooking.
4. Use healthier cooking methods:baking,broil,stew and grill.
African love red meat a lot but ever since I read about the effects of red meat I had to take precaution because it’s said that PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!
REMEMBER: Eating a lot of meat is not a healthy way when losing weight.
